In love with the open mid-century
modern sensibility of their existing home and the secluded
wooded lot, a Glencoe family renovates, desiring a layout
that maintains a connection to nature with large expanses
of glass, increases privacy for the family members and incorporates
new building systems and green materials to improved energy
efficiency.
In an area near the lake where tear downs are common, the
modest home was expanded and updated while maintaining the
original features that appealed most. The house remains a
contemporary structure, still rooted in its late 50’s
origin, but refreshed, and more open and welcoming than before.
